Here is another christening outfit from the clothing stash of the very talented dollmaker in another city. She made many large dolls, so christening outfits are a given here. It consists of just the dress and hat...the cotton slip is made as a lined bodice and full slip hanging from the yoke.
It's done in a soft and sheer white polyester (organza feel) with rows of lace and insertion lace with delicate yellow beading. The bodice/yoke and sleeves has matching bands plus a yellow bow w/long streamers at the neckline. Pearl heartshaped buttons close the back. The cap is done with matching trim and is made as one piece around the head and a band down the back tied with ribbons.
This one is an actual christening outfit...the label inside is from Martha's (could this be Martha Pullen?) and gives the size as 6-9 months. It measures 8" across the shoulders and 5-1/2" from armhold to edge of lace at bottom of sleeve. Total length of dress is 26". The cap measures 12" around the brim.
This would be the perfect outfit to serve first as the christening gown for a baby in your family and then to become a treaured heirloom on a handcrafted doll to wear it!
